Emily Jones

Hi, I’m Emily, a ceramic artist and recent graduate with a First-Class BA (Hons) in Design Craft. Over the past three years, I have dedicated my practice to exploring the possibilities of clay, with a particular focus in my final year on glaze development — experimenting, innovating, and drawing inspiration from the natural world. My practice began with slip casting to create organic marbled effects, and has since evolved into throwing, allowing me to refine my technical skills and expand the expressive potential of my work. Recent pieces take the form of bulbous vessels with slender necks, conceived as canvases for showcasing complex, nature-inspired glazes.

Looking forward, I am eager to establish my own studio where I can continue to push the scale of my practice, create larger works, and develop a broader range of forms. With the right space and facilities, I aim to further challenge myself as both a maker and designer, building on my passion for innovation within ceramics..
