Hand-thrown and glazed, this piece works beautifully as a sculptural object on its own or styled with stems. Deep ocean blues flow down the surface and break into lighter tones, revealing subtle crystalline textures and mineral-like patterns throughout.
This handmade vase features a form with gentle curves and a narrow opening, finished in a flowing, layered glaze. Translucent washes of seafoam green, pale blue, and warm ivory melt together and cascade over the surface, creating natural drips and movement that make each angle feel different.
Beautiful on its own as a sculptural object or styled with a few dried stems or a single branch.
This handmade ceramic cup is finished in a glacier green glaze with a glossy, mossy surface that pools and breaks across the form. In places, small crystals peek through the glaze.
The softly rounded shape, paired with an integrated thumb rest, makes this cup especially comfortable to hold.
This piece exists as a one-off.
About
I'm Emily, a ceramic artist based in South Wales with a studio practice and a First-Class BA (Hons) in Design Craft. My work has been exhibited across galleries throughout the UK and has reached collectors internationally.
My practice centres on the expressive possibilities of clay, with a sustained focus on glaze development — drawing from the natural world to create complex, layered surfaces that sit at the intersection of craft and design.
At the heart of my practice is the Glaze Experimental Series, a body of work rooted in the formulation of glazes from raw materials to engineer chemical reactions that replicate the patterns, textures, and phenomena found in the natural world.
I have developed a practice that applies these experimental glazes across both decorative and functional work, bringing together the demands of craft and the freedom of fine art. Whether a sculptural vessel or a functional piece for everyday use, each work carries the same commitment to surface, material, and the unpredictable beauty that emerges through the kiln.
