Experimental Glaze Series
Through my dissertation research on biomorphism, I discovered that humans experience measurable psychological and physiological benefits not only from direct contact with nature, but also from exposure to nature-reminiscent patterns, colours, and textures. This insight became the foundation of my final University Project.
In this series, I explore how glaze chemistry and the unpredictable energy of the kiln can recreate the organic textures and hues we find in the natural world. Each hand held vessel is carefully thrown and trimmed, then offered as a canvas for the glaze to flow, fuse, and transform — allowing nature, in a sense, to finish the work. Even when a glaze is applied to intentionally replicate a natural pattern but emerges from the kiln transformed or unexpected, I see it as part of the beauty: a reminder that organic processes are inherently unpredictable, and that every piece remains a unique, living vessel.
My aim is to create intimate objects that invite touch and reflection, reconnecting us with the sensory and emotional experience of nature in an increasingly digital world. For me, ceramics is not just craft, but a platform for innovation and a way to foster well-being through material and form.
